Bridgewater restaurant to open October 25 at R1VER development
After 10 months of planning and preparation, Bridgewater’s Modern Grill is just days away from its public dedication in Milwaukee’s harbor district.
The upscale casual restaurant Officially opens Tuesday, October 25 at 2011 S. First St., as the newest addition to Brownsville-based Michels Corp.’s R1VER development. The Bridgewater is also the latest concept out of Milwaukee Benson Restaurant Groupformerly known as Hospitality Democracy.
Located along the Kinnickinnic River, its new 11,000 square foot dining space can accommodate 165 people indoors and 80 people outdoors on its 245 foot long patio and living room by the river.
The seasonal, locally sourced menu has been designed around the restaurant’s custom oak-fired Jade Grill, with dishes such as Filet of Veal with smoked porcini mushrooms, sherry reduction; Pulled duck tostada with duck barbacoa, ancho chili, mashed avocado, yellow pico, cotija, radish and lime; and the Ancient Grain Salad with miso mashed sweet potatoes, charred onions, snow peas, wild mushrooms, avocado, and cilantro pumpkin pesto. Additionally, its beverage program includes custom cocktails, a robust wine list and local craft beers.
“We have created a unique experience in the area and are excited to introduce it to our friends, neighbors and community,” said David Marcus, General Manager of Benson’s Restaurant Group. “The Bridgewater is ideal for special occasions as well as everyday celebrations…”
The Bridgewater will donate 10% of all proceeds on October 25 to the Bay View Community Center pantry and 10% of all profits on October 26 at United Performing Arts Fund.
“We are thrilled to welcome The Bridgewater Modern Grill to our backyard, and are thrilled to partner with the restaurant on this Give-Back night during a time of heightened need for our organization and Food Pantry,” Chad VanDierendonck, food pantry manager at the Bay View Community Center.
Also during opening week, The Bridgewater will transform its riverside patio into a fall party atmosphere, complete with a professionally carved wall of pumpkins, lawn games, live music and more. According to a press release, every booking during opening week will include a Bridgewater knee blanket, perfect for the fall season, while supplies last.
Starting October 25, The Bridgewater will serve lunch and dinner, with opening hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
