Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich ready to pay £ 154.5million to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is set to endorse Erling Haaland’s signing this summer.
The 20-year-old is the subject of “strong interest” from the Blues for the summer transfer window and contacts have started to be made from west London on a possible transfer.
Haaland has a £ 68million release clause which is active from the summer of 2022 and Dortmund are reluctant to let him go this summer.
However, they might be willing to part ways with the striker if they receive ‘something crazy’ from an interested club – Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all been linked.
And according to a new report in Spain from Marca, Abramovich is ready to break the bank and “would be prepared to pay the £ 154.5million” which may be needed to disembark at Haaland this summer.
The deal would now be in Abramovich’s hands – if he is to pay the required fees, Chelsea could be on the verge of landing the 20-year-old, who is also ready to speak and join the club.
Chelsea have also been linked with Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan as well as Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur. But Haaland seems to be the priority this summer.
What Thomas Tuchel said about summer acquisitions
“Two or three (signings) could be very, very good. It is a constant thing to never deny change; that you always bring new energy, new guys who challenge old beliefs, who challenge everyone in training and in games, so I think that’s a good thing.
“We don’t need seven more and another full turnover because it’s also our job to keep improving, because we still have a young team and it’s not about stealing from them the chance to prove it again, that they are able to grow and But of course we have some ideas to make the group stronger, and I think that can always be a positive thing to challenge us all. “
