Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s obsession with Erling Haaland as Man Utd loses interest | Football | sport
Chelsea now appear to have a clearer path to Erling Haaland. Manchester United have reportedly lost interest in the Borussia Dortmund star after tying Edinson Cavani to a new contract. And Roman Abramovich’s position on the 20-year-old is already known.
Chelsea want a new striker this summer.
In the eyes of Thomas Tuchel, it is the last piece of his Blues puzzle, not having been convinced so far by Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
Chelsea are doing well without a deadly number 9, winning the majority of their games since Tuchel took over from Frank Lampard in January.
They could win the FA Cup, with the West London giants set to face Leicester in the final.
And the Champions League trophy could also be on its way to Stamford Bridge, with Manchester City standing on their way to winning the award for the second time.
But Chelsea are a big club that wants big players.

And, at a time when Manchester United have seemed to dampen their interest in Haaland, it’s time to dwell on Abramovich’s stance on the Dortmund striker.
It was reported by 90 mins Last month, the Russian was “enamored” with the idea of bringing the hitman to the Premier League this summer.
He is not discouraged by the prospect of breaking records, with Dortmund likely to seek costs in the order of £ 130million to part with their precious assets.
And Abramovich is hoping Chelsea will secure his vocals – although he has alternatives in mind.
One name is Romelu Lukaku, who once had difficulties during his stay in the capital.

But, having changed his career at Everton, Manchester United and Inter Milan since then, he would certainly be a good addition alongside Tuchel.
Another target is Sergio Aguero – but he and Haaland could join from the same window. Especially if Chelsea cut the players.
Abraham is on West Ham’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window, although the Hammers are reluctant to hit the Blues’ asking price of £ 40million.
And Giroud may also be released, Lens and Inter both courting his signing.
Tuchel has played Kai Havertz and Werner as attackers in recent weeks, with both players starting to show their class in the process.
Still, Haaland would be an upgrade on the two, with neither player being a specialist in this role.
Speaking earlier in the season, Joe Cole urged Chelsea to sign Haaland – expressed his belief that he would be the perfect fit for Tuchel’s side.
“They need a player for me, Haaland. He’s on the wish list, ”he said.
“It’s a No. 9. There is so much in this team, there is quality in all areas, such a strong team.
“You just need that spark of magic, that No 9, that focal point and it will change this club returning regularly to the glory days of the title fight.”
Dortmund CO Hans-Joachim Watkze recently ended discussions about Haaland’s potential departure, saying: “The only way is to see where Haaland will play after September 1.
“I think I know where Haaland will play, but that’s all I have to say.
“When COVID-19 arrived, we had no debt. Not a euro.
“Therefore, we are in a comfortable situation. We don’t have to sell a player. It is important.
“The wealthy clubs around the world need to know that when they want a Borussia Dortmund player there are two possibilities.
“The first is that I tell them they don’t stand a chance. Other times I tell them it’s the price.
“So they have to know that it’s the price, not another price. We are very clear and very honest. “
