Chelsea ‘want to take signing’ seriously – Roman Abramovich key in transfer mechanics
Earlier today, we covered Sport1’s claims that Chelsea have included Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski in their list of summer targets.
The London club’s interest in the striker is confirmed in this week’s edition of SportBild.
Erling Haaland is also wanted by the Blues and if the deal to sign the Borussia Dortmund star does not materialize SportBild claim Lewandowski becomes Chelsea’s No.1 target.
Thomas Tuchel’s side “want to take the Polish international seriously”, and his agent, Pini Zahavi, shares close ties with Roman Abramovich. Both live in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The Russian billionaire‘s close relationship with Lewandowski’s representative is said to be key to any potential deal involving the Pole this summer.
Although the 32-year-old is the main target [if the Haaland deal is not possible] for the Champions League winners, the report says their chances of pulling him away from the German champions are “negligible”.
Lewandowski’s camp is sending signals that a quick change could be a possibility, but Bayern do not intend to abandon their player “at all costs”.
The Bundesliga winners can be firm on their position as the leader has a contract with them until 2023.
