Ex-Chelsea chief Emenalo: Abramovich dismissed manager wanting to close academy
Former Chelsea chief Michael Emenalo has revealed how Roman Abramovich stopped a manager from shutting down the academy.
Emenalo has claimed a former manager tried to SHUT DOWN the club’s academy.
The former Monegasque chef told the Telegraph“I defended the academy when there was pressure and doubt and pessimism.
“There was a time when there was a clamor to do more and a manager came in to give a presentation to say the academy was not needed.
“The argument was that it takes too long, we don’t have time, we should use it to make money here and there, and the owner should stop pumping money because it seemed like a waste.
“But it was not my idea and I had to fight against it.
“This is where I’m very, very proud of owner Roman Abramovich because of his faith in me and his willingness to listen to me and give time to the academy.
“He wouldn’t give up on her. He believed in her and in me, and I can’t thank him enough for that.”
