Folio Society brings Robin Hobb’s Farseer trilogy to life
The Folio Society Presents Robin Hobb’s Favorite Fantasy Novels The Farseers Trilogy to life in a spectacular three-volume set, featuring a specially commissioned introduction and fifteen ethereal illustrations by award-winning fantasy artist, David Palumbo.
Bringing together Apprentice Assassin, Royal Assassin and The assassin’s quest, this trilogy includes illustrations depicting the fascinating characters of Robin Hobb and expansive landscapes with exquisite detail, delivering a realistic medieval tone in a rich tapestry of magic and otherworldly.
Each volume in this set is beautifully bound in blocked fabric and held together in a bright red case. The text is printed in black and red throughout and special care has been taken in choosing a font that evokes the unique atmosphere of the Kingdom of the Ancients. Artist Neil Gower redesigned the Six Duchies map in matching black and red, making this edition truly worthy of the outstanding story inside.

The story begins with the protagonist FitzChivalry Farseer summoned to court to serve the king as an assassin. Quickly, Fitz is thrown into the middle of a plot that threatens everything he holds dear. Helped by the mysterious Madman, Fitz discovers that his destiny is to change the world … if he can stay alive long enough. Robin Hobb’s tale skillfully weaves a sublime magical fantasy with the subtleties and nuances of a real political world.
Robin Hobb, in his new introduction to The Folio Society edition, writes: “I’ve always enjoyed writing from the first person perspective. For me, it is the natural voice of the narrator. It is the voice we use when we gather with our family at home. ‘How was your day?’ “What did you learn in school today? These questions are always answered in the first person, and from that voice they gain in intimacy and conviction. “
