Jinjer Announces Summer 2022 Tour Dates as Ambassadors of Ukraine
Ukrainian metal band Jinjer, initially sidelined by the Russian invasion of their country, recently received permission from the Ukrainian government to begin touring. Subsequently, the group led by Tatiana Shmailyuk announced new European dates for the summer. The trek from June to August 2022 includes festival stops in several countries.
And this time, Jinjer will be on tour as an official Ukrainian ambassador.
“We are very honored to announce that with the help of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, we have successfully obtained permission to travel abroad as ambassadors of our country to raise funds and awareness for the war that rages among us”, the group explained in an update this week.
They added, “It is a huge honor for us as a group and as citizens. We will do our part to make sure this war ends as soon as possible!”
In March, Jinjer raised more than $140,000 in aid for Ukraine with charity t-shirts they released in lieu of a planned America tour during Slipknot’s “Knotfest Roadshow.” At that time, Jinjer bassist Eugene Abdukhanov said he had been estranged from his family since Russia began attacking in February. Jinjer confirmed the safety of its members but condemned the invasion led by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In addition to Jijner, several other artists have shown their support for Ukraine. Others canceled or postponed Russian shows in response.
