President Joe Biden discusses Trevor Reed affair with Russian President Vladimir Putin

TEHACHAPI, Calif. (KERO) – During President Joe Biden’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the two discussed the release of two Americans including Trevor Reed who grew up in Tehachapi and graduated from the city’s high school.
Trevor Reed’s Texas parents reacted to what they heard from President Biden after the summit. No promise that Trevor will come home, but they are grateful to President Biden for raising their son with Vladimir Putin.
“It was great to hear those words. I think it’s huge. I really think it’s huge,” said Paula Reed. “And then we have the last big final step for him to come home.”
President Biden said he brought up the case of their son Trevor and Paul Whelan, both former Marines, held in separate cases on false charges in Russian prisons.
âI have spent my whole life in the service of my country and I would appreciate if my country would help me bring me home in this difficult situation to my family,â Trevor Reed said on the audio provided by the family.
President Biden told families watching in the United States: “We will continue this discussion. I will not stray from this question.”
âThis has really been our focus in life for almost two years,â said Trevor’s father Joey Reed.
“It’s surreal. But like I said, it’s what we’ve been working on for almost two years. So we’re happy that it finally happened today,” added Paula.
