Report: Chelsea dealt a blow in pursuit of Sergino Dest as he wants to stay at Barcelona

Chelsea have received a heavy blow in their pursuit of Barcelona winger Sergino Dest as the American wants to stay in Spain, according to reports.

A move to Stamford Bridge has already been discussed, with Reece James and Ben Chilwell injured.

However, according to Ben jacobs from CBS, Dest’s preference is to stay in Barcelona in January.

Reports indicated that Thomas Tuchel believed the ex-Ajax star would be an ideal candidate to play the right-winger in his system if signed.

And with James’ injury tearing his hamstrings against Brighton and Hove Albion, Dest could be the target of a transfer to the club.

However, the Blues have received a heavy blow as his preference is to stay in Barcelona in January rather than move to London to join USMNT teammate Christian Pulisic.

Roman Abramovich has been reported to be only willing to offer the American € 25million to bring him to Stamford Bridge, while Barcelona valued their defender at € 35million.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is a big admirer of the defender and believes he has what it takes to compete in the Chelsea squad, but the London club could miss the American.

Therefore, they might turn their attention elsewhere as Lucas Digne has been a name circulated regarding the full-back role operating as a left-back for Everton.
