Report: Tuchel now wants to sign £44m fast player from Chelsea who Thiago Silva rates really highly

Thomas Tuchel has reportedly asked Chelsea’s chain of command to requisition Eder Militao from Real Madrid.

According to AS, the Blues boss wants to acquire the Brazilian international this summer.

Why Militao?

Militao is a player who has been on Roman Abramovich’s radar since he left Porto for Madrid in 2019 for £43.5million (Guardian).

AS suggest that the Stamford Bridge owner tried to sign the defender ahead of his Bernabeu move.

Now, Abramovich‘s investigation could be revived thanks to his manager’s wishes.

Tuchel will be well aware of the strong possibility that at least one of his key centre-backs could leave at the end of the season.

Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are all out of contract in June.

Although they avoided being busted last month, there’s nothing stopping potential suitors from securing their services as free agents, should Chelsea let their deals expire.

In this scenario, the Blues must find replacements to fill any significant holes left in the workforce.

Jules Kounde is still top of the list whether Rudiger, Christensen or Azpilicueta leave South West London or not.

However, it looks like Tuchel won’t be satisfied with just one more body to cover up.

His search apparently led him to Spain, where Militao currently resides, and very fortunately so.

Brazilia was born with blue connections

The 24-year-old is one of Madrid’s leading men, having already made 30 appearances this season.

He’s improved considerably since swapping the Portuguese sun for the equally hot rays of La Liga, a rise that has also made him a fixture in the Brazilian national team.

On international duty, Militao often shares a locker room with Chelsea’s Thiago Silva.

“I believe that from now on, with the departure of Sergio Ramos, (Militao) will be one of the mainstays of Real Madrid,” Silva said last June.

“Militao trusts his speed a lot. He’s a very fast player and sometimes he stays a little high because he knows he’s going to recover.

Tuchel might want to use this relationship as a bargaining chip for Militao’s signing.

Still, his deal with Los Blancos won’t perish until 2025 which means a deal won’t be easy.

But when have Chelsea ever been a fan of keeping it simple?!
