Roman Abramovich has a clear stance on Romelu Lukaku transfer amid Chelsea interest
Chelsea saw three offers for Romelu Lukaku turned down by Inter Milan this summer, football.london understand.
The most recent offer, which was presented on Monday, included Marcos Alonso as well as £ 85million as the Blues look to sign a world-class striker before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.
The west London club are likely to make a new offer for Lukaku before the window closes, with the Belgium international now high on the Chelsea hierarchy agenda due to complications over the conclusion of the ‘an agreement for Erling Haaland.
Borussia Dortmund are determined to keep Haaland and the Blues now consider the deal to be virtually impossible.
So, the European champions have now turned their attention to Lukaku, who was a Chelsea player from 2011-2014 but never really had a fair chance at Stamford Bridge.
Despite reports that Inter want more than £ 100million for the 28-year-old striker, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich “strongly believes” he can bring the Belgian back to west London, according to FCInterNews.
Abramovich is said to be a big fan of Lukaku, with Eurosport reporting earlier this summer that the Russian billionaire “is personally helping to bring” the forward back to the club.
The Belgian striker, who has scored four goals for his country in the last Euros, is said to be based in Milan – where he has rekindled his form which he showed during his time at Everton.
Lukaku was imperious during his time at Goodison Park, which earned him a money transfer to Manchester United, where he struggled a bit more before moving to Inter.
The Inter striker starred in his side’s winning Serie A campaign last time around, with the former Chelsea player scoring 24 goals in 36 appearances in the Italian top flight which helped the Milan side to win the title of champion.
“Yes, I am staying. I feel good at Inter, ”Lukaku told broadcaster VTM in June.
“I have already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager.
“Maybe I shouldn’t say it yet… but it was a very positive conversation. There is also the challenge of doing it again [winning the league]. “
Chelsea, as it stands, will kick off their new season with Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner and Michy Batshuayi as attacking options, but will be determined to add to their frontline before the end of August.
