PHOENIX, December 09, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – The third annual O’Connor Civics Challenge, an online civic education competition for middle school students, expands its schedule into 2022.
Open to all students currently in Grades 6-8, participants are challenged to choose a civic education topic from a list of options and express their civic education knowledge through various forms. of art. Categories include short video, song, audio or video narration, poetry, written essay, or multimedia art including poster, painting or sculpture via artwork photography submission. For those who want to create a video, short video tutorials provide instructions for producing a civic education video of up to three minutes in length.
Finalists in each level will receive Apple products, including a Macbook Pro for the first place winners. Entries are now open and entries can be submitted until March 26, 2022, Judge Sandra Day O’Connor’s birthday.
The #OConnorCivicsChallenge encourages students to learn about civic education topics and then share their knowledge with others through artistic creations. Participants can choose from the following six topics: Legislative Power, Executive Power, Judiciary, Citizenship: Rights and Responsibilities, Checks and Balances and Judge Sandra Day O’Connor.
In addition to the student prizes, college teachers whose students obtain at least 25% registration for the Civic Challenge can win a $ 100 gift card. Teachers whose students win an Apple Prize will receive an additional $ 250 gift card.
The O’Connor Civics Challenge is part of the Institute’s multigenerational programs and its “Civics for Life” commitment to lifelong civic education learning for all ages.
