Thomas Tuchel reportedly given £ 150million for transfers
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly received £ 150million to spend this summer on transfers from club owner Roman Abramovich.
Tuchel has been an immediate success at Stamford Bridge since replacing Frank Lampard in January, leading the Blues into the top four as well as the Champions League and FA Cup finals. Under Lampard, the London giants spent £ 253million to bring in Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy and Hakim Ziyech.
However, despite spending on the previous market, complaint reports Abramovich is impressed with the German and wants him to improve his squad this summer. Tuchel admitted he wanted to bring in a new center-forward after dropping Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud in the pecking order.
Both players are expected to leave the club this summer, with Chelsea linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, while former Inter player and leader Romelu Lukaku is another possible target.
Werner, who joined RB Leipzig last season, has managed just 12 goals in 48 appearances this season and continues to struggle in front of goal. Earlier this week, Tuchel said he did not want to dent the club’s harmony and optimism by discussing possible transfers before the end of the season.
“Transfer periods can be mood breakers,” he told reporters ahead of Wednesday’s loss to Arsenal. “(At Chelsea) it’s all about the coaches. No hesitation in bringing someone in or letting someone go.
“A big part of my personality is coaching and guiding my team and pushing them to the limit. I have no ambition to ruin this atmosphere for myself or anyone else. Do we have any ideas. to improve the team? Yes, but will we fight for that? No. We will discuss it and first of all we will finish this season. “
