ASHGABAT, October 1. / TASS /. Turkmen President Gurbanbuly Berdymukhamedov described his personal dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin as one based on trust, the most open and always substantial.
“You know, I can say it like this: based on trust, maximally open, friendly and always very substantial and results-oriented,” he said in an interview with the first deputy general manager of TASS, Mikhail Gusman, questioned about his dialogue with Putin. . Berdymukhamedov also described the Russian president as a great man “with an outgoing personality and a big heart”. “He’s a man who is always pleasant to talk to,” he added.
According to the Turkmen president, he met Putin for the first time while he was deputy prime minister and accompanied the Russian leader on his visit to Turkmenistan. “As far as I can remember, it was in 2002,” he said. “So we have known each other for almost 20 years. We always have an honest, direct and open dialogue on all subjects.”
“We have regular contacts with the Russian president, both in person and on the phone, to exchange views, discuss urgent issues of international politics, of the bilateral agenda,” he noted. “And each time, I see his preparation for constructive joint work and his commitment to cooperate closely with Turkmenistan, a respectful attitude towards our country and our course.”
Berdymukhamedov stressed that he was grateful to the Russian president for his “unwavering support for Turkmenistan on the world stage, our neutrality and our international initiatives”. He also said he liked her very much. “Everything we discuss is in the interest of our people,” he said.
